What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is an ancient healing art that uses pure, essential oils to enhance the body, mind and spirit. Aromatherapy is experienced through the energy of the essential oils on the bodies emotional and energy centers. Each essential oil has different healing properties. For example, some calm while others energize.

Does aromatherapy “cure” conditions?

An Aromatherapist does not diagnose, prescribe or treat any specific illnesses. Aromatherapy supports the person as a whole, supporting his or her ability to achieve balance and good health. Each client is assessed holistically as good health requires balance in the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the individual.  Evaluation of lifestyle choices, to isolate and change any potential causes of ill health, and to empower and achieve improved health.

What is an aromatherapy session like?
Clients must first complete a personal history form. This form inquires about any current health conditions or concerns, current medications, dietary habits, etc. It is pertinent that this form be completed accurately and in its entirety for your safety. It will be used to determine the appropriate selection of essential oils for you at that time. This information must be updated each time a client comes in for a session.

Some benefits of aromatherapy include; stimulation of the immune system, soothing many types of pain, releasing of toxins, calming of the nervous system, improvement of blood and lymph circulation and relaxation.

Additional tips

  • don’t eat a heavy meal before the treatment
  • if it’s your first time at the clinic, arrive at least 10 minutes early to complete the necessary forms. Otherwise, arrive 5 minutes early so you can have a few minutes to rest and relax before starting your treatment
